SBTEX for MS-DOS PC'S
\section{Introduction}%
The original {\tt sbtex} adaptation of D.E. Knuth's \TeX\ was developed by
Wayne G. Sullivan with assistance of Peter Breitenlohner. Since {\tt sb08}
was released, contributions from Peter Sawatzki have resulted in an appreciable
size reduction in the {\tt EXE} files.
Also James A. O'Brien, Philip Taylor, Dominik Wujastyk and Graham Toal
have given valuable assistance toward removing unpleasantries in the
programs. At the suggestion of Nicolas Brouard, {\tt sb29} includes
capabilities for handling 8-bit byte file input for accented characters, etc.
Many changes have been introduced since {\tt sb08} to reduce the size of the
{\tt EXE}'s and increase the speed and capacity. {\tt sb29} corrects a bug
which occurs with {\tt sb26} (and {\tt sb24}) when one uses {\tt CRTL-BREAK}
while there is terminal input or output. {\tt sb29} also includes several
new features regarding path names and sizes of some internal \TeX\ arrays,
as well as providing limited support for the \TeX\ {\bf E} edit option.
